How your journey works, from start to finish
No surprises. From the first phone call to the check-up after a year, you know what's coming, who you'll see and what it costs. Step by step below, followed by a day-by-day recovery timeline.
Four steps
Analysis and consultation
You call or fill in the form; we schedule a consultation within two weeks. The best part of an hour with the doctor: digital hair analysis, scalp examination under magnification, measurement of density and donor area, and a conversation about what you want.
Treatment plan
You get a written plan: which treatment, in which order, at a fixed price. You take it home. We don't call to 'check in'. You decide, when you're ready.
Treatment
For a transplant we plan a full day, you as the only patient. For PRP, a 45-minute appointment. Always in our own rooms in Bruges, always the same team.
Follow-up
Twelve months. First wash in the clinic, check-up after ten days, then after three, six and twelve months. With photos, so you see the evolution. And a direct number for everything in between.

You take your plan home with you
After the consultation you get your treatment plan in writing: which treatment, in which order, at a fixed price, with the date we hold for you without obligation.
You take it home and read it at your own pace. We don't call afterwards to check in, and there's no expiry date on your decision. If you're unsure, be unsure.
Recovery after a hair transplant, day by day
This is the question everyone asks and almost nobody gets answered: how long will I be out? Here's the answer, in practice.
The procedure
A full day in the clinic. You go home in the evening with a dressing on the donor area, your aftercare kit and instructions. Have someone collect you. Sleep with your head slightly raised for the first nights.
Tender and swollen
The scalp is tight and tender; ordinary painkillers are enough. The forehead may swell, sometimes down to around the eyes. That looks worse than it is and disappears after a few days. Sleep as upright as you can on these nights and wear the headband you're given: it keeps the swelling away from your eyes. Don't touch, don't scratch.
First wash in the clinic
As soon as it's safe, the team washes your hair for the first time and shows you how to do it at home. From then on, daily washing with the shampoo provided, gently and without rubbing. We agree with you when that first wash takes place.
Back to the office
If you have a desk job, you can usually go back to work. The treated area is visible (small scabs, redness); a cap is allowed from day five, loose and not tight.
Scabs come off
The scabs come off when washing. From now on light exercise is allowed (walking, cycling without a helmet). Check-up in the clinic around day ten.
Physical work and intensive exercise
Physical work can resume. Intensive exercise, heavy lifting and sweating from day fourteen. The donor area has healed and is no longer visible with short hair.
Shock loss
The transplanted hairs largely fall out. That's normal and expected: the follicle stays in place and goes into rest. Many people are still alarmed by it. Do call.
Sun, swimming, sauna
From one month you can swim, use the sauna and go bareheaded in the sun. Until then: hat or shade. Haircuts are fine again too, with scissors; clippers after six weeks.
First growth
The new hairs come through, fine and sometimes a little curly. That normalises. Check-up after three months.
Clear difference
About half of the final result is visible. The hair thickens and takes on its normal structure. Check-up with photos.
Final result
The result is complete. Last scheduled check-up, with a comparison of the photos from day zero until now. And an agreement about how you keep your own hair going forward.
Practical
A few things that make it easier to plan:
- Consultation: Mon – Fri, by appointment. Allow the best part of an hour.
- Waiting time: for a consultation usually within two weeks. For a procedure, after the consultation, generally four to eight weeks.
- Procedure on a Friday: if you want to use the weekend to recover, you can ask. We accommodate as much as possible.
- Getting here: ten minutes from Bruges station and easy from the E40. Parking on site.
- Staying overnight: optional, in a private suite in the same building. Handy if you're travelling from far away. Most patients simply go home.
- Questions in between: you get the team's direct number. Calling is always fine; better once too often than not enough.
Questions about the journey
How long will I be out of action?
Office work is usually possible after three to five days, physical work after about ten days. During the first week the treated area is visible (small scabs and some redness). After ten to fourteen days that's gone. Light exercise after one week, intensive exercise after two to three weeks. The journey page has a day-by-day timeline.
When will I see results?
Later than most people think. The transplanted hairs largely fall out after two to six weeks (that's normal; the follicle stays in place). From the third or fourth month new growth starts. After six months you see a clear difference; the final result is judged after twelve months. That's why our follow-up runs that long.
Do I need to stay overnight in Bruges?
No. Most patients simply go home. If you're travelling from far away or would rather recover in peace, you can stay overnight in a private suite in the same building, with the medical team close at hand. Entirely optional.
Does the first consultation cost anything?
Yes, the consultation with digital hair analysis and scalp examination is paid. If you go ahead with a treatment afterwards, that amount is deducted from the price of the procedure. We charge for the consultation because we really do take the time: expect the best part of an hour with the doctor, not a ten-minute sales pitch.
Look first, then decide
Every journey starts with a consultation in which we map your scalp, your hair density and your stage. Only then do we talk about what makes sense. And if the answer is 'wait a little longer', we'll say so.
